Last week I had the absolute pleasure of escaping to the Life House Spa with the most amazing group of girls.
We were all invited to a blogger’s retreat of sorts, and were set free to explore the spa and all it’s incredible facilities – including their indoor pools, which obviously called for a late night dip. The ground are enormous and stunning, I felt like Alice in Wonderland exploring through all the green. There is just so much space and fresh air, and it was such bliss to be able to get out of London and just relax.
It was a 1-hour train out of London, so it was the perfect getaway without having to go too far out. I definitely plan on heading back for a weekend escape, either solo or with loved ones. If no one wants to come with, I’ll just head on my own and get their huge bed all to myself again.
We were there for two days, and I was seriously considering refusing to leave. They would have to drag me out kicking and screaming, but I was so relaxed and happy after such a lovely time that I decided I shouldn’t put up a fight.
The first day I received the best facial. It was the Ishga Detox Facial and it truly left my skin glowing, it was so dewy and happy that I didn’t even want or need any make-up! Getting facials is not something I do often, but it just works wonders. It exfoliates and hydrates, not to mention the head and shoulder massage that I got while the mask was on my skin. So good, and very needed after spending much of my week over a laptop writing recipes for you guys!
This place offers more than just massages though, there is such an emphasis on wellness as a whole and it really resonated with everything I believe. Looking at the body as whole, that wellness is not a one-stop-shop and there is no short-cut, and that we should treat ourselves with love and care, all while basking in the sun wearing our robes in their idyllic spa!
The following morning we were put through out paces with a circuit workout workout. It was hard, but it left me feeling strong and bright awake!
The hardest part was the 300 circuit – 5 sets of 20 burpees, 20 russian twists, and 20 tuck jumps. Burpees are honestly killer and I was panting, jumping, and just trying to get through. Burst exercises are not my strong suit but I do enjoy how I feel after I’ve completed them!
My partner in this was the lovely Hedi, and she absolutely smashed it! Mother of two and absolutely killing it – plus she’s also sharing the recipe for the energy balls in the video on her Facebook page, so go ahead and check it out.
Lucy and Carly also posted amazing videos of our time there, so if you want to have a look at how it went through someone else’s eyes, be sure to head to their YouTube accounts.

Now, since you guys know I am a die-hard foodie, I couldn’t not talk about the food.
Going to this place just for the food would be worth it. Not only did they have a delicious breakfast and lunch spread, their dinner is just unbelievably tasty. We got a tasting menu so we could try loads of their different dishes, and I loved it all. Starters, mains, and desserts, I did not leave one crump or leaf on my plate.
Their vegan korma was a favourite with veggies and meaties alike, so they’ve kindly allowed me to share the recipe with you guys – find it below. Especially now that the weather is getting colder, getting cosy with a bowl of this korma and some rice is exactly what the doctor ordered.
