It seems I’ve become a morning person this past year. I don’t struggle as much to drag myself out of bed in the morning, and I actually make breakfast instead of just pilling cereal and milk into a bowl and shoving it all down so I won’t be late. Since when am I an adult? Crazy times.
One of the things I love is morning smoothies. Not exactly sure why, but they have something so comforting about them. It’s like a morning hug.
As soon as I whizz up a tasty smoothie I can just sit on my couch and think about anything and everything while watching the sun rise – especially since it’s it doesn’t rise until it’s almost time to leave for work. Damn winter.
Anyways. Let’s get on to the goodies – not only is this smoothie great for you, it also tastes like a treat. No better way to start a day. It’s got the magical chia seeds for fibre and antioxidants, almonds for good fats, banana for potassium, and flaxseeds for it’s fibre, vitamins, and minerals. A health powerhouse in a glass.
So, to make enough smoothie for yourself, you will need:
*to make almond butter, simply roast 400g of almonds and blitz them in a food processor until they become a paste. Scrape the sides as you go. Should take just over 10 minutes. If not, you can usually buy it ready-made in most health food shops!
You can easily double/triple/quadruple the recipe if you’re having guests over – it’s a really nice touch and makes you seem like the best hostess (or host)!
